How AngelEye Works

The technology behind real-time AI drowning detection

The Technology Behind AngelEye

AngelEye combines two innovations: patented underwater LED cameras and intelligent AI software — working together to detect drowning incidents faster than the human eye.

Step 1: Patented Underwater Cameras

AngelEye’s cameras are designed to replace existing underwater pool lights. They fit into standard light housings, meaning installation requires no major construction and minimal pool downtime. Each camera provides high-definition underwater imaging, energy-efficient LED lighting, wide-angle coverage of the pool floor and water column, and durable waterproof construction rated for continuous pool use.

Step 2: AI Detection Software

The AngelEye software continuously analyses video feeds from every camera, tracking the position and movement of every swimmer. The AI distinguishes between normal swimming, diving and playing; a swimmer in distress (submerged, motionless, struggling); and objects vs. people. When the system identifies a potential drowning, it triggers an alert — typically within 10 seconds.

Step 3: Instant Alert Chain

Alerts are sent simultaneously to multiple channels:

  • Lifeguard smartwatches — vibration + on-screen alert
  • Monitoring screens — real-time image and pool position map
  • Mobile phones — push notification with incident image
  • PA system / flashing lights — audible and visual alarms
  • Central server — event logged and archived

Step 4: Rescue

The lifeguard receives the exact position of the swimmer and a live image of the situation. This eliminates the search phase — the most critical time-waster in drowning response.

Installation Process

  1. Site assessment — camera placement plan based on pool geometry
  2. Cameras installed in existing underwater light housings
  3. Server and monitoring equipment installed in plant room or office
  4. Alert devices configured (smartwatches, screens, PA)
  5. System calibration and ISO 20380 compliance testing
  6. Staff training

Typical installation time: 1-3 days depending on pool size and complexity.
